The liver is an important organ of your body. It is responsible for carrying out various necessary functions including cleansing the blood, detoxifying harmful substances and making vital nutrients.

Cirrhosis problem occurs when the liver tries to repair itself every time any damage occurs to the liver. And in the process scar tissue forms. With the formation of more scar tissues, it becomes extremely hard for the liver to function.

Why does cirrhosis cause problems?

The liver is a central organ of the human body.  It performs several critical functions in the body. Thus, it is extremely important to maintain good care of your liver.

Apart from this, the liver plays an important role in regulating the supply of glucose and fat that body uses as fuel. In order to carry out all these functions perfectly, the liver requires to be in the healthy state and they must have close proximity to the blood because all good or bad substance that are added or removed by liver are transported through the liver by blood.

The relationship between the blood and liver is unprecedented. Compared to the other organs of the body, only a small portion of the blood is being transported to the liver.

The major chunk of blood that comes to liver is from the intestinal veins as the blood returns to the heart.  The portal vein returns the blood from the intestines to liver.

As this vein progresses through the liver it gets segmented into smaller and smaller veins.

The tiniest veins have close contact with the liver cells. This proximity between the liver cells and blood from the portal veins allow the liver cells to remove or add different segments from the blood.

In cirrhosis problem, the relation between the liver cells and blood get destroyed.
