ABOUT YOGA ASANAS

ABOUT ASANAS

Yogic postures or Asanas are one of the most important systems of physical culture ever invented. They reflect an amazing understanding of how the body works and, particularly, how to release tension at a deep level from the tissues, organs and joints

Asana is the third step in the Ashtanga Yoga.

In the Yoga sutras, Patanjali, concisely defined Yogasanas as :

“sthiram sukham asanam”,  which means, comfortable and steady. Raja Yoga equates Yogasanas to stable sitting position.

The Hatha yogi found that certain specific body positions (Asanas) open the energy channels and psychic centers. They found that developing control of the body through these practices enabled them to control the mind and energy. Yogasanas became tools to higher awareness providing the stable foundation necessary for the exploration of the body, breath, mind and higher states. There are 84, 00,000 Asanas. Main of them are as follows.

Dandruff

Dandruff

dandruff

dandruff

Dandruff is a kind of skin disorder that affects the scalp. Dandruff is a condition in which white, dry flakes of dead skin are shed from the scalp. When the hair is combed or brushed, or when the scalp is scratched, the scales from the scalp fall like snowflakes and settle on the eye brows, shoulders, and clothes. These scales sometimes appear as lumps or crusts on the scalp.

In the present times, dandruff has become a common hair problem, which bothers many people. Characterized as excessive shedding of dead skin cells from the scalp, it can either be chronic in nature or caused by certain specific triggers. One of the most common triggers of dandruff is frequent exposure to extreme heat and cold, apart from chronic constipation, stress, fatigue, pollution and excessive use of hair styling products. The unusually large amount of flaking – one of the main symptoms of dandruff, might be accompanied by redness and irritation as well.

Symptoms of Dandruff

Normally dead skin cells are shed from the scalp, but it results in dandruff only when the scalp starts shedding thick layers of these dead skin particles. Seborrheic dermatitis or Seborrhoea is a disorder of the sebaceous glands which affects the scalp. Seborrhoea produces severe dandruff and a red, itchy scalp. Dandruff rarely causes hair loss or baldness. However, severe seborrheic dermatitis may cause patchy baldness.

Ayurvedic Treatments and tips for Dandruff:

  • Take a mug of water and in it, add 1 tsp lime juice. Use this solution as the final rinse, after washing your hair with shampoo.
  • Mix equal amount of lime juice and Amla juice. Apply the solution to your scalp and let it sit overnight. Wash hair in the morning.
  • Mix 10 grams black pepper powder, juice of 1 fresh lime and ¼ cup milk and rub into your scalp. After letting it sit for an hour, rinse off with water.
  • Massage your scalp with olive oil and let it remain overnight. Wash your hair in the morning.
  • Massage your scalp with 4-5 tbsp of warm wheat germ oil. Now, wrap a warm towel around your head and keep it on for 30 minutes. Thereafter, rinse your hair thoroughly with water.
  • Heat coconut oil slightly and massage your scalp with the same. Let the oil remain on the scalp overnight and wash your hair in the morning. Do this at least three times in a week.
  • In a cup of water, put 1 tsp fenugreek seeds and let them soak overnight. In the morning, drain the water and grind the seeds to a fine paste. Now, apply it all over the scalp, let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.
